Round Leak Free Bunker

Bunker Advantages, Disadvantages and Design Features

Advantages

  • Round Bunkers are less expensive to build than a rectangle bunkers. Handling and welding process can be automated. See video on our home page to see some of our automation.
  • Round bunkers can be buried deeper than rectangle bunkers. A circle is just a stronger than a rectangle. A lot of structure has to be added to a rectangle bunker to make it strong enough that the walls, roof and floor does not buckle after burying it. This is why you cannot just bury a sea container in the ground.
  • Round bunkers have a lot of room for in floor storage. You can store 45 gallon drums in the floor if you want.

Disadvantages

  • Round bunkers can only be made so big. Our restriction is the shipping requirements of your state or province. (12' feet in diameter and 65 feet long is likely the largest that is practical to transport.)
  • You end up with round walls inside your bunker. Or some wasted space if we build rectangle walls inside a round bunker. Round walls feel less like home.
  • Your bunker will echo if we do not provide insulation.
